Monty Hyde graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1967, articled with a Toronto litigation firm, and opened his law office in 1969.
Monty is a lawyer who is committed to life long learning. He earned his Master of Law degree from York University in 1978, a Certificate in Micro Computer Systems and Applications from Sheridan College in 1986, and a Certificate in Creative Writing from Humber College in 1997. He is a past member of the board of directors of the Life Institute, a fifty plus life long learning organization affiliated with Ryerson University.
Monty has almost fifty years experience in not for profit governance including past chair of Kerry 's Place Autism Services, (Canada's largest not for profit agency exclusively serving persons with autism), and Kerry's Place Residential Services. He was a founding director of Halton Community Legal Clinic, and inaugural chair of the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee for the Town of Halton Hills. He is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.
As a writer, Monty saw an essay published in the Globe and Mail, won a Canadian Author Association Short Story Contest with publication in a literary journal, and self published his first novel, BURDOCK, through Friesen Press. He is currently writing a sequel to Burdock.
